Mantras

A Mantra is a word or set of words that have a special vibration and induce a state of consciousness other than the person who recites it. The mantras are generally used in meditation. Usually written in Sanskrit or in Tibetan, but we can also use mantras in our own language. It is said of the mantras that dissolve impurities and bring light to the spirit. For many Buddhists and Hindus the "mantra" has a magical dimension: saved from danger, help in illness, comfort in the misfortunes and help to overcome many everyday problems. Each mantra creates a unique vibration on specific aspects working member of our being.

Etymologically, the word mantra comes from two Sanskrit terms. Man means mind and Tra which means free. That is, the mantra helps us to free the involuntary internal dialogue in order to gain access to higher states of consciousness. It is the theory of removing a nail with a nail. If you meditate regularly, you will notice that your state is not always the same, and there are days when some meditation techniques will work better than others. For example, if you meditate regularly watching the breath, reciting a mantra can help you in these days when the mind is more rebellious. It's like giving your mind a cuttlebone.

One of the wonders of the mantra is that it has a dual role. On the one hand helps us calm our mind and go into meditation, and moreover has a vibrational quality that acts directly on us, both physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Although the practice is wonderful mantras, there comes a point where it becomes necessary to total and absolute silence within. A mantra can help us to go part way, but does not lead to the end.

How does Mantra Work?

The mantras used the same channels of music and subliminal advertising, although much more charitable intentions. Each vowel and consonant produce a particular vibration that resonates with the same vibration energies, providing a harmony through sound.

How to Use Mantras?

Just repeating over and over again the mantra out loud or inwardly. It is said that mantras repeated aloud the issues most affect the world of matter, the lower Chakras. And the repeated mantras quietly come to more subtle aspects of us related to the higher Chakras. A good way to work with mantras, is to start reciting the mantra out loud a few times and finish inside reciting. No need to think about the meaning while reciting the mantra is more is better if you do not. Just focus your attention to the mantra itself, its sonority. If you want you can also view the syllables of the mantra while repeating. We repeat them quickly, so the mind is more difficult to stick your nose in the middle, or repeat them slowly capturing the nuances of sound and vibration.

Mantras can be pronounced in a neutral way, ie as if we were talking normally, or can be served with a little ditty. The latter mode can produce a stimulus more pleasant to work with a mantra and the vibrational factor of the music will have more weight.

The practice is ancient mantras and is full of mysteries, far from wanting to give anything, this section is intended as a starting point for all those who have never done a job with mantras. If you play every day for a while with the mantras you will soon realize their magic and their tremendous efficiency. Let's see now some examples.

Traditional Mantras

OM or AUMThe great primordial sound, the sound originating from that created the universe, the sound of all sounds together. Symbolizes God and encompasses the other mantras. There are several ways to pronounce it, depending on the school or the spiritual lineage. For example, in the Tantric schools pronounce it O (by one or from one to, ie finding the point where neither is nor is or, but both) and M (pronounced ng, ie, m remains nasal but he added the vibration of the soft palate). In other schools simply pronounce it as written OM, or AUM some AOM, or UM. Is usually repeated at least three times before starting a meditation or some spiritual practice or simply to start the day.
